The series of images of New Zealand's Farewell Spit continues today with this view of barchan dunes at Ocean Beach stretching towards the horizon, as the sun sets on a summer evening. It might not look like it, but a very strong wind was blasting sand all over the place. Thankfully, the Mamiya7II and 50mm lens are relatively sealed. In exposing the frame, I made sure to meter on and around the sun to ensure the sky wouldn't be totally overexposed. Typically, exposing for a very bright zone will render shadow areas very dense, but since I chose a low contrast negative (Fujifilm 160C) and drum scanned this frame, darker zones retained a lot of details.
