Tian Shan Mountains, Xinjiang, China

Bordering the Taklamakan Desert and stretching from Uzbekistan to the region of Hami in the Uygur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang in China, Tian Shan is one of Central Asia's longest mountain ranges. Seen from the air, the crumpled terrain presents a visual spectacle of geometric shapes made of snow, light and shadows.
