The 22nd 'Visa Pour L'image' international festival of photojournalism opens its doors today in Perpignan (France). If the participation of photographers such as Steve Mc Curry, David Burnett, Paolo Pellegrin in Visa's previous editions is anything to go by, this year's festival is guaranteed to showcase some of the most compelling photojournalistic work in the world.
A few notable exhibitions: Five Decades: A Retrospective presents National Geographic's William Alber Allard's work. Allard has been able to enter people’s homes and hearts to capture stunning off-guard moments, revealing the depth of human nature as it had never before been seen. Also, 'Congo River' by Cédric Gerbehaye, a young belgian photographer at Agence VU, the renowned french outlet. Another exhibition worth checking out is 'Pilgrimages' by Kazuyoshi Nomachi who has been photographing religious gatherings since the age of 25.
